watercolour floral wedding invitations and stationery

I’m so excited by how the two new ranges I launched last week have gone down! I’m already getting several enquiries about them and thank you everyone for your lovely comments! Last week on the blog I shared the Spring Garden range and now I’d like to share with you more photos and details of the Watercolour Floral range which was also launched last week.

The Watercolour Floral range stemmed from another photo shoot I did for the lovely Elle at Inspire Hire in Cornwall http://inspire-hire.co.uk/ . She styles some amazing weddings here in the South West and has some wonderful things for you to hire on your wedding day as well. Elle was doing a photo shoot for Wed Magazine inspired by Summer Picnics and asked me to design some stationery and invitations to go with the shoot. I of course love designing stationery, whether for clients or for shoots, so jumped at the chance.

The brief was bright and floral so I kept it simple with really crisp white card and really bright purples, pinks and greens in the florals.

I loved the stationery so much I decided it had to be a new range on the website so I designed a full range of matching reception stationery which continues the watercolour floral theme. Placecards have a contrasting hydrangea motif that matches in with the rest of the stationery.

I had so much fun photographing this range with the lovely Clare Kinchin Photography http://www.clarekinchinphotography.co.uk/ at her studio. We kept the styling simple with a white wooden background and some sprigs of bright purple lavender. The aim for the stationery and the shoot was fun and floral but also modern and crisp.

I really hope you like the stationery as much as I do. If you’d like to ask any more questions then please don’t hesitate to drop me an email to info@knotsandkisses.co.uk

Spring Garden Bright Floral Wedding Invitations

I’m very excited today as I have launched 2 new stationery ranges on the website! They are both part of the Brights Collection and I just love how fun and bright and floral they are! The first of the ranges is the Spring Garden range. Bright floral wedding invitations which were inspired by a photo shoot at my very own wedding venue Coombe Trenchard! http://www.coombetrenchard.co.uk/

Last spring the gorgeous ladies at Blue Fizz Events http://www.bluefizzevents.co.uk/ commissioned me to produce some stationery for a style shoot at Coombe Trenchard. The theme was spring garden inspired by the gorgeous gardens at Coombe Trenchard and I really went for it with a bright floral wedding theme with a hint of the rustic in some dark brown string. I thought using the dark string rather than the usual coloured twine really echoed Coombe Trenchards wood and panelling and the history of the house. We had an amazing day on the shoot and I loved the stationery so much I was excited to turn it into a permanent range on the website.

I took samples of the range to the Westpoint wedding show in October and it proved so popular that I knew it was something I had to launch … and so here it is! You can find the Spring Garden range in the Brights section http://www.knotsandkisses.co.uk/shop/all-collections-spring-garden/personalised-invitations-stationery-spring-garden-3/ .

With this range I really wanted to concentrate on bursts of colour and also create a leaf pattern which could be used across the range. So as well as the bright pink flowers and monogram the back of cards and the envelope liners have the leaf pattern on in a bright burst of green. Against the crisp white card and dark brown twine I think it looks really cheerful and bold.

As with all of my ranges you can order a full range of invitations, Save the Dates, Order of Service and matching reception stationery. Order directly from the website or contact me if you want to discuss any bespoke changes you might want to make first.

I can’t wait to hear from some of you and receive order’s for this range … it brightens up the studio and definitely makes a dull day more cheery!

I’ve also launched another range today Watercolour Florals and I’ll be sharing details of this very soon!

Bespoke Vintage Travel Wedding Invitation

I do love an good bespoke brief from a client! So when Sophie & Ross got in touch last year wanting a vintage travel wedding invitation I was very excited! I do have a vintage travel themed range of stationery but it wasn’t quite what they were after. So they purchased one of my bespoke fees and we had a consultation over the phone to discuss their requirements.

They really wanted to include a gate-fold style of invitation so I designed a vintage travel themed gate-fold. The background had a vintage aged paper feel and was kept together by a simple belly band with a stamp mark and their names. Although they wanted a vintage feel they also didn’t want it to be too old fashioned and fussy so a clean belly band definitely made it more modern.

The next big thing was to incorporate not only one of their favourite photos but also to create an RSVP card in with the theme which allowed their guests to see a menu and return their menu choices. I designed a lovely little round corned folded booklet with their photo aged slightly on the front. Inside were the menu options and tick boxes for the guests. The tick box section was then perforated so it could be torn off, and on the reverse it was pre-addressed to Sophie & Ross so it could be posted back to them with a yes / no as well as the menu choices. I was so pleased with the design I can’t wait to do something similar again in the future!

The invitation itself sat inside a pocket inside the gate-fold and was in the form of a punched train ticket. There was then also a telegram style information card and a little luggage tag with the gift list details.

Provence Wedding Invitations and Stationery

Today I wanted to share some more photos I have taken recently of bespoke work. Last year I worked on Claire & Daniel’s bespoke Provence wedding invitations. At the moment I’m working on some reception stationery designs for them so it was lovely to revisit the design. I drew a sketch of their beautiful Provence wedding venue and then incorporated that into their stationery. Adding an olive branch and rose design to create the perfect Provence wedding invitations.

provence-wedding-invitations

Their invitations came in both English and French versions. I’m always more than happy to do this for client’s. I’ve done lots of invitation suites in the past in various different languages. As long as client’s can send me over the wording in their chosen language. I can then use it to produce proofs in as many languages as they want. I obviously can’t read all these languages so the proofing process becomes even more important! In the past I’ve done invitations in South African, Italian, French, German and Polish for clients.

We’re working on some really pretty reception stationery for Claire & Daniel’s wedding so I hope to share that with you soon.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me, either via the contact form on this website, or by email to info@knotsandkisses.co.uk if you would like a bespoke design. Or if you are interested in having your invitations printed in various languages.

watercolour wedding invitation with cat illustration

Today I’m sharing another of my bespoke designs. The design for Sammii and Adam was a watercolour wedding invitation in style. Incorporating a hand painted illustration of their gorgeous cat! I met them ( Sammii & Adam that is … not the cat! ) at the Westpoint wedding show in Exeter back in October. They really liked one of my existing designs with its watercolour floral illustrations. They wanted though to incorporate some personal details and their colour scheme of pinks and greens. With one being from Cornwall and the other from Devon I used crossed Devon & Cornish flags on the belly band. I then did a painting of their cat wearing a bow tie sitting in amongst all the flowers they liked. He will be forever known in my head as ‘dapper cat’ as he looked so adorable in the bow tie!

watercolour-wedding-invitation

I love creating invitations that are totally personal to the couple and their wedding so this was a fantastic brief to work on and I think the results were really lovely and the invitations were still pretty and elegant as well as fun.

The watercolour wedding invitation was accompanied by a matching rsvp and information card. It was then wrapped in the belly band and came with a crisp white envelope to match the card.

I love working on bespoke designs and am more than happy to adapt an existing design to make it more personal to you. If you take a look at the bespoke page of this website you will see I have a ‘Tailoring Fee’ which can be bought alongside any of the existing ranges. I can then change the colours of any range to suit you. If you also want a watercolour wedding invitation where I hand paint some extra details for you then get in touch by emailing info@knotsandkisses.co.uk . I can give you a bespoke quote for the work.

Dinosaur Wedding – Bespoke Invitations

I love a fun and quirky design brief for a client’s wedding invitations and stationery and boy did I get one when I spoke to Emily & Ben at the South West Wedding Showcase at Bath Showground last year! Their opening lining was pretty much “we’re having a dinosaur wedding theme, do you think this is something you could do ?” … to which I got very excited and practically had to stop myself from jumping up and down on the spot! Who wouldn’t love to work on a dinosaur wedding theme and invitations to match!

A little later Emily got back in touch and we had a chat via the phone to go into a little more detail about what they wanted from their bespoke invitations.

The colour scheme was a really striking black and white monochrome with a hit of orange … perfect for Jurassic Park fans! The colour scheme was perfect as I was able to incorporate the dinosaur theme without the whole thing looking too childish.

I designed a full suite including a lovely little orange information booklet which incorporated all the details that they needed to give their guests in a handy little guide. I did this for my own invitations and it worked out really well so was glad to use this format again for a client. The invitations were layered up with the information booklet, rsvp card and a belly band to give a really luxe look and crisp white 350gsm card and envelopes made for a really fun but modern feel.

I’m pleased to say Emily and Ben were over the moon with the result and I’m seriously looking forward to working with them again on their reception stationery later in the year!

how to make your wedding personal to you

P1080765

Risking sounding like a broken record I can’t believe how quickly this year is going! Everyone said the year of wedding planning would race by and they weren’t wrong! We had another meeting at our wedding venue Coombe Trenchard on Friday which was absolutely lovely! Its made us feel we are definitely on track and Sarah and Emily are so lovely and accommodating … you really feel like they want your wedding to be a true reflection of you as a couple and not like you are just another in a long train of couples who need to fit around them and how their wedding venue works. I know from speaking to so many brides and grooms over the years that this is not always the case so I feel very luck to have found such a wonderful venue. http://www.coombetrenchard.co.uk/

It got me thinking about how that is my favourite part of working with my couples who order stationery from me. Whether the stationery is one of my standard collections or a completely bespoke design I always try my best to make the invitations as personal to them and their wedding as possible. Its why I will never place any restrictions on wording or give couples a template they have to stick to … It’s just not what I think weddings are about!

So how do you make your wedding personal to you as possible ?

Ditch the rule book!

I think one of the main questions I get asked all the time when clients are planning their weddings is “is this how it’s normally done?”. To be fair I can understand. Planning a wedding is something most people will have never done before. You often have no idea about where to even start, let alone what you should and shouldn’t include. Its often much easier to say well if this is how it’s traditionally done lets go with that. But I think with every decision that you make with regards to your wedding you have to sit back for a minute and ask yourself is this something which is right for us as a couple? Several times during my wedding planning I’ve felt like I ‘should’ have something because I know somebody in the industry who does that thing. Ant has been brilliant though, as an industry outsider, for checking for a second and saying that’s not really us is it! So for everything a magazine ‘tells’ you you ‘should’ have take a minute to decide whether you want it. Don’t be swayed by tradition if its not who you are. We, for example, are not having adult bridesmaids or ushers and we are walking in to our ceremony together and spending the night before together. I’m not one for superstition.

Create a moodboard

Whether this be a physical board, scrapbook or a collection of images on Pinterest, spend some time before you really start planning to look at ideas that appeal to you both and what you love and loath about weddings. Don’t limit yourself to wedding images though! No-one wants to see another identikit Pinterest wedding! They want to see you and your personalities. So include in your moodboard things you love to do in your spare time, books you love, films you adore … what your passions are. You will often find that this naturally creates an idea of how you would like your wedding to look … sometimes it might even suggest a colour scheme you may not have realised you have to your life! We have started decorating our new house in a palette of navy’s and greys with pops of colour and so it seemed natural to include navy in our wedding scheme … a very pale pastel wedding would just not have been us.

Think about your friends and family

How do those closest to you see you as a couple ? You want your day to reflect who you are and how people see you. Asking friends and family for what they see as ‘your’ colour or personality might be really interesting and throw up things you may never have thought of. (Although obviously make sure they don’t think they can get too involved!) Its also lovely to think about what your friends and family like to do and how to incorporate things that they will find fun into the day as well. There is no point having a day which reflects you both completely if everyone of your guests is going to have a miserable time!

I really hope that gives you a starting point for your own wedding planning and how to make it personal to you. We’ve had so much fun planning our ideas that I hope everyone else enjoys it too!

Luxe Christmas Card Packs

Well it’s definitely that time of year again! Christmas is drawing closer! The decorations and gifts are in the shops. Christmas markets are opening in a few weeks. So today I want to share with you my luxe Christmas card packs which are available to order from my Etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/KnotsAndKisses .

After designing my new Luxe Collection of wedding invitations I decided that a complimentary range of Christmas card packs would look wonderful and I really wanted to create something sparkly and beautiful for Christmas using my love of gold foiling! I also wanted to create something beautiful yet fun and cheeky so the luxe Christmas card packs have light hearted phrases rather than anything serious on the front!

They are available as packs of 5 cards with matching envelopes.

There are 3 designs … a blush pink and gold with gold foil text and a cheeky message …

A navy mottled background with gold foil text and a twist on a traditional Christmas song lyric ( anyone noticing a bit of a boozy theme here! ) …

And a frosty grey and white with a simple snowflake and Merry Christmas message …

I hope you like them as much as I did designing them! They will be available to buy from my Etsy shop with guaranteed Christmas delivery until the 16th December so get your orders in now!

Its all about the gold for me this Christmas so I’m hoping to get a bit of gold against the navy walls of my living and dining room when I decorate for Christmas this year. That is if we finish decorating the dining room! Our house renovation project has definitely been on the back burner for the last few months as we have been so busy with work and wedding planning! So now its full steam ahead to get the dining room finished for Christmas … wish us luck!

provence wedding invitations and stationery

Its been such a busy few months for me at Knots & Kisses. One of the really lovely things has been the amount of bespoke orders I have had to work on. I love all of my standard ranges of course but its always exciting to get creative and work on something new. So when couple’s order one of my bespoke packages I love to see what ideas they have for their wedding and then get designing something which is perfect just for them. One of the bespoke orders I worked on earlier this month was a Provence wedding invitations suite for the very lovely Claire & Daniel. They are getting married in a beautiful location in Provence next year and so wanted their stationery to reflect the location.

PROVENCE WEDDING INVITATIONS

After sending me pictures of their venue I created a pen and ink sketch and incorporated it into a folded invitation surrounded by olive branches and incorporating the roses and lavender colours they were going for in their wedding scheme. The background I created had a slightly vintage aged texture to it to keep in with the theme and I added a rustic brown Kraft envelope to finish the look. I also created a matching rsvp postcard with the olive branch motif and pre-addressed to them with their address and room for a stamp on the back.

As Daniel and Claire are French themselves I was also happy to do the invitations in both French and English versions for them, and they also ordered pre-addressed envelopes making it so much easier to send to their guests.

navy blush wedding invitations with a geeky twist

Gosh it seems like ages since I’ve written a blog post and an update on our own wedding! As many of you will know we are having a navy blush wedding colour scheme. We’re also trying to incorporate lots of our love of literature, sci-fi and film. So what does a wedding stationer design for her own wedding invitations!? Well I found out recently as I set about designing and sending out our own wedding invitations for our wedding next May.

We decided that we definitely needed a full ‘pack’ for our wedding invitations. Most of our guest’s are coming from quite a distance. So we wanted to provide them lots of useful information and accommodation details. I also definitely wanted to provide an rsvp card and a stamped addressed envelope to make it as easy as possible for guests to reply. I definitely wanted guest’s to reply via post for the day invitations. There is nothing better than receiving your rsvp’s back in the post and seeing them on the doormat when you get in!

navy-blush-quirky-wedding-invitations geeky-floral-star-wars-wedding-invitations

What I really wanted to do was combine a really pretty and elegant invitation style but also incorporate some little twists. So an information booklet had a hint of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy on the front cover and the envelope liner incorporated some little storm trooper helmets. We also added a quote from Lord of the Rings to the top of the invitation.

The skull motif is a running theme throughout the wedding, so this was included on the top of the invitation as well, and then I added lots of florals and wrapped everything up in a vellum wrap and leather thong to make it look like a wrapped up book. A little blush pink tag carried on the colour scheme.

We also wanted to keep things fun and light hearted so the wording on the rsvp card kept things down to earth and fun.

Honestly it was the most nerve wracking thing sending out my own wedding invitations! I felt so much pressure to make them look amazing as guest’s obviously know what I do for a living. Fortunately we’ve had a few really lovely comments about them so I’m pretty sure they were received well.

I’ll be sharing lots more about our wedding planning journey soon.
